Angle 33’s New Year’s Resolution: It’s All About Water

Happy 2016!

I hope that the holidays treated you right and that you are ready to make good changes in the coming year. I don’t know about you, but I love the chance the New Year brings to start fresh and make resolutions. Over the last few months, I’ve been thinking about what I want to do with Angle 33 this year. Of course, part of my goal for 2016 involves expanding our offerings (can’t wait to tell you about the new products we’ll be offering), but I also wanted to find a new way to give back. So, I started thinking about the things I talk and write about. This is what I realized:

I write about water . . . a lot. Frankly, I wish more people would talk about it. It’s amazing how little we talk about it for being made mostly of it and for how much life depends on it.

Anyway, in my last post related to water, I talked about the California fires, one, because so many people were affected by them and, two, because they highlighted so many of the issues surrounding water conservation in our world. It’s been great to read about the recent storms hitting the coast, but it’s easy to breath a sigh of relief and sort of ignore the fact that California will need A LOT more precip to get over this drought. It’s a lot harder to do something to help.

Or is it?

I think it’s just hard for us to act. And I get it—life is busy. But, I’ve resolved to act, in one small way.

This year, Angle 33 will donate a portion of its proceeds to water conservation. There are about a million ways to do this, but I am choosing to take a percentage of sales and donate it to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) for their Sustainable Rivers Project. I like that TNC works to sustain whole ecosystems, because I believe that is how we will succeed at overcoming some of these water challenges. Also, we, at Angle 33, spend a ton of time on rivers. We’d like to honor the entity that gives us so much joy and sustenance.

Check out the project. Perhaps you’ll be inspired to act too.
